Pregnancy Hospital Bag: What To PackPregnancy hospital bag what to pack

When its time to go to the hospital the last thing you want is to not be prepared. Sometime during the last trimester is a good time to write a check list and start marking things off. Lets take a look at some of the things you should have ready to go, not only your bag, but also things for your baby.

1. First and foremost you need to have your babys car seat ready. It needs to be a newborn car seat. You may need a newborn insert as well, depending on how much your baby weighs. Some hospitals might prefer you use rolled up baby towels that they provide for added security. If your baby is very small they are required to do a stress test on the baby while in the car seat. During the test they will monitor your babys heart rate and oxygen saturation to ensure you baby can handle the ride home.

2. You will want to make sure you have a diaper bag. Dont worry about packing it. You will have plenty of diapers and wipes, momentos and baby related items when you leave. If you insist then pack lightly. Most family and friends will bring gifts, even if you had a baby shower. Most likey there will be the perfect little oufit to take baby home in.

3. A nice baby blanket is a must. Babys cannot control their temperature right away so a blanket to help keep them warm on the way home is helpful.

4. You yourself will need to pack a number of bathroom items to ensure that you are comfortable after child birth.

Such as: Full bottomed underwear (granny panties) so that you can wear pads.

Hair brush and hair tie, tooth brush and paste, chapstick.

You may also want to bring some pajama pants so that you can walk about the hospital and your room without worrying about your bottom hanging out.

If your breastfeeding, a shirt with easy access is a plus.

Bring a change of clothes for the ride home. You wont be able to slide right back into your favorite jeans since most women still look pregnant after giving birth, but be patient it will come in time.

6. If you have one be sure to bring a copy of your birthing plan to ensure your wishes are followed.

7. Make sure you have all your important documentation. Identification is a must.

8. Camera, video camera, music and music player, or movies that you like. (Labor can be a long process)

9. Any facial care products, lotion, scrub or makeup. (Yes make up! We are women aren’t we?)

10. Dont forget your phone charger and phone. People will be dieing to get a hold of you and baby.
